Week 12 Sleeper Picks
November 23, 2007 – 5:05 pmLooking for a little magic from your fantasy team this weekend? Well, you ain’t gonna find it here.
I do have a few sleepers that I like this week:
Ron Dayne @ Cleveland: Cleveland’s D is horrendous, as most of you know. And while most focus on the porous secondary, because that’s how most teams choose to score against the Browns, the hapless Browns also have the 28th-ranked run defense, giving up north of 138 yards per game on the ground. Look for Dayne to carry more than 20 times, put up nice yardage and most likely land a nice short yardage touchdown. This game should be back and forth all day! Every fantasy football coach’s wet dream.
If you put a gun to my head, I’d say 80 yards and a TD for Dayne — with upside.
Andre Davis @ Cleveland: Sensing a theme here? Maybe this is the week the Browns get it together, but I don’t think so. The defense is really as bad as advertised. They gave up 30 points to the Ravens last week!!! It can’t get much worse, right? You betcha, it can. In that game, the secondary gave up 4 catches for 107 yards and a TD to Devard Darling. Devard’s stats prior to that game? 4 catches, for 31 yards …. in 3 1/2 seasons! Andre will find a way to get his as well against these DBs who couldn’t cover their asses with their hands.
Gun to my head: 2 catches, 55 yards, 1 TD
Arnaz Battle vs. Arizona: Arizona’s D is much improved, but so is Battle. He’s averaging 5 catches and 87 over the last 2 weeks. The Cardinals secondary, however, has been giving up a ton of yards to receivers. Even with old man Dilfer under center, I like Battle’s chances to crack the century mark and maybe even land in the end zone.
Gun to my head: 6 catches, 90 yards
